The Around Annapurna trek is considered as one of the greatest walks on earth. It is also called Annapurna Circuit Trek. This classic trek begins at green low-lying valley and gradually goes up to high villages that give way to yak-pastures, pine forests and high arid landscapes. The trek starts at Besisahar, 6 hrs drive from Kathmandu then makes its way towards Manang. The scenery is magnificent all time. The valleys are absolutely beautiful. The small villages are always attractive. To add adventure on top of beauty is Thorung La, a high pass at 5416m. We then descend down to Kali Gandaki valley. Muktinath and Kagbeni are added attractions. Finally arriving at Jomsom - you can either continue trek down to Beni for a complete circuit or fly out of Jomsom.

Key point -
Recent road construction in Annapurna region has been concern for trekkers. Many think it can take away the real feel of wilderness on trek. The road now has reached close to Manang from Besisahar side, and from the other end it runs from Jomsom down to Beni and Pokhara. Should we be worried? Well, not that much in fact. More often than not, alternative tracks are available and they are even more beautiful than the original ones. It is still very much possible to enjoy this Around Annapurna trek in its full glory. |
