Bhutan visa cannot be obtained at Bhutanese Embassies overseas. It cannot be obtained directly on arrival either. So, a Bhutan visa clearance must be obtained via a Travel Agency before your entry.
Travel Agency (like our company) will get a registered company in Bhutan obtain visa clearance papers for you through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bhutan.
A minimum of one week is required to process the visa clearance. Following documents are required -
- A copy of your passport (valid at least for next six months)
- A colour photograph
- Bhutan Visa application (see below)

Who needs visa?
All visitors, except Indians, require a visa to Bhutan. These visas are issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thimphu. Visas are only issued to tourists booked with a local licensed tour operator, directly or through a foreign travel agent. Applications for tourist visas must be submitted by the tour operator. Visa clearance must be obtained from Thimphu before entering Bhutan.
Air tickets to Bhutan cannot be purchased without visa clearance. At point of entry the visa will be stamped in your passport. Remember to carry two passport size photographs. |
